REEL TO REAL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
FOR YOUTH announces a film mentorship opportunity for
grade 11 & 12 students
“Your image of the
Future”
Grade 11 & 12 students from high schools across the Lower Mainland
are invited to submit applications and a copy of their work to the
Reel to Real International Film Festival for Youth. From these submissions
twenty students will be selected to attend an intensive Advanced
Video Production Mentorship Program at the Pacific Cinémathèque
(PCP). The course will be modeled on the Pacific Cinémathèque’s
Masters’ video production program.
The Mentorship Program will begin with a 2-day script workshop
February 3rd & 5th. Participating youth will bring
story ideas and will work closely with the PCP team of instructor/artists
to craft shooting scripts, storyboards, and production plans. Once
complete, the youth teams will spend the next two weeks on the their
own time and working with camera equipment available through their
schools to shoot their productions. The PCP staff will be available
for consultation on shooting, lighting and sound techniques, as
well as location and acting advice. When the production phase of
each project is complete, the PCP will invite the youth teams back
to work with their staff and digital editing equipment from February
16th-19th to complete their videos. This phase of the project will
allow participating students to expand and develop their abilities
as editors and sound designers and will ensure high quality digital
video productions result.
Videos produced as part of this intensive mentorship initiative
will have the following theme: “Your image of the Future.”
