THE FESTIVAL

The 2005 Reel 2 Real International Film Festival for Youth took place March 1 through March 10, 2005 at Tinseltown Cinemas and the Roundhouse Community Centre. The film screenings included live-action, animated shorts and features from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the USA.

Youth are at the heart of the Festival’s selection and judging process. A selection committee of film professionals and youth screen over 100 entries to select 35 films. This year 20 Vancouver youth participated in the youth jury, along with two adult juries.

The mission of Reel 2 Real is to showcase the best in international films for youth and to foster a climate of excellence in filmmaking for youth. Through discussions and interactive filmmaking workshops the festival promotes cultural awareness and respect for all.
